Design Engine are pleased to announce that Jesselton Quay has been awarded a Highly Commended in the Mixed Use category of the 2014 MIPIM Architectural Review Future Project Awards.
The development site for this 2.5m sqft mixed-use scheme comprising hotels, offices, retail, and links to a new marina and cruise terminal is situated on a flat piece of waterside bordering the South China Sea. Using the site context and analogy with the land, a concept diagram looks to inform the basis of the rules for planning and to give a strong sense of anchoring on the site. The unique geology of the area has been used to generate concepts, including fractured floor plates and elevations, and a sense of flow through the scheme in reference to geological valleys, culminating at the sea.
