Alex Wallis \ Senior Architect
Alex rejoined Design Engine in 2017, having previously worked at the practice between 2010 and 2012, when he worked as part of the Oxford Brookes University team to provide design coordination and drawing packages for the construction of the award-winning John Henry Brookes and Abercrombie Buildings. He also played a key design role for two projects in Lyndhurst: an office extension and a new baptist church.
Alex has experience across a number of sectors with a focus on education buildings, having previously worked at Foster+Partners, Grimshaw Architects and Hampshire County Council. He qualified as an architect in 2014, having studied at the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff.
Alex is interested in the retention and reuse of existing and historic buildings in the context of urban regeneration, which was explored in his Thesis subject “Reconnecting Historic Fragments.” His dissertation explored the possibilities of ETFE technology and its application in the built environment.
