Robert Ellis \ Architect

Robert is a qualified Architect and has worked at Design Engine since early 2019 in the Winchester and Exeter studios. He is currently part of the architectural team delivering high-profile projects for University of Plymouth and Winchester College.

Prior to working at Design Engine, Robert was an architect at Stephen Davy Peter Smith Architects with responsibility for the development of a mixed use office and residential building in Lambeth to stage 3, and an apartment development in Ealing to stage 5 under a traditional tender. Experience was also gained leading a number of mixed retail and residential projects to stage 3.

Robert gained experience in Urban Design project managing precinct plans and urban design reviews for private and public sector clients whilst working for Studio GL in Sydney.

Robert has a keen interest in local identity and how this can be reflected and interpreted in contemporary architectural forms; his thesis project at the University of Cardiff explored identity and legibility in the coastal townscape and was awarded a commendation.
