Luke joined Design Engine August 2023 after completing his MArch at the University of Reading, graduating with a First Class Honours.
In his final year, Luke was nominated for the RIBA Silver Medal and the AJ Student Prize for his design thesis, The Waterside Workshop. The Waterside Workshop is a fly fishery targeting mental health and loneliness, particularly within the ageing community of Midsomer Norton. Material reuse is central to the project, achieved through inventive repurposing of materials such as earth to create trout pools within the construction of rammed-earth walls. Bamboo, grown on site for construction, celebrates the craft of curating split cane bamboo rods, connecting the programme and architecture.
Prior to joining Design Engine Luke gained nearly 3 years of in-practice experience working primarily within residential architecture, alongside the opportunity to work on industrial gantry cranes, commercial ice rinks and listed heritage buildings.
