Design Engine sponsors the annual Best Model Prize across the school of architecture at Oxford Brookes University.
We were impressed by the range of exploration and creativity that was evident across both degree and diploma schools. There was a freshness to the work where the tactile process of building models has exposed both the intended and the unintended.
Taking model making back to its roots, we have awarded the prize this year to a series of concept study models by Amy Allwood. Through a sequence of plaster casts the unexpected spaces that occur between objects and volumes have been elegantly revealed.
