After a year working at the Winchester studio, Tom returned to the University of Plymouth to complete his Masters (RIBA Part II), graduating with First Class Honours while continuing to work part-time for Design Engine.
His Part II final year design project, entitled ‘The Logarithmic Archive’; explored the storage of global palaeomagnetic data collected by oceanic observatories tracking Earth’s shifting magnetic poles. Set within a re-wilded Somerset quarry, the archive is conceived as an inverted castle – a subterranean, thermally stable structure that reveals layers of geological and cultural history while physically mapping magnetic shifts onto durable ‘rock paper’.
Tom is now based in the Exeter studio working on a range of projects from large commercial schemes to small-scale residential work. He is currently pursuing his RIBA Part III at UWE and aims to achieve his professional qualification as an architect by December 2025.
